„Mom, why they call us migrants, me and Asan?“- asks mother little Arina, sitting at the dining table.
“Well, it’s time…”- sighs a young, elegant lady, immediately turning serious, even slightly tense; she starts, without hurry and weighing every word, to tell the girl their story about arriving, more than 6 years ago, in this country, after finding a job; about acquiring new friends, and how fast this folk became close to them, with its way of life and attitude; how incomparably more confident, assured, safe and demanded they felt themselves and how, after spending long and profound thoughts and having so many hesitations, they made a decision to take up this country as their residence... In the beginning, life wasn’t easy at all and they soon realized the difference between working on a international agreement and trying to get used to the way of life, customs, traditions and the language of the new country…
Gently stroking daughter’s hair, girl's mother explains her that there is nothing shameful or disgraceful in the word "migrant" and that the world is full of migrants who are not worse than any other people; furthermore, they bring in many positive aspects into the life of the country of their choice.

This conversation woke up seemingly having calmed down feelings and emotions…
Migrants… Four years of this venture into the unknown were anything else but easy-the family could take off anytime, and return to the land of their heritage; there were so many reasons and difficult situations, and still, not every obstacle has been resolved-by far! But, weighing, again and again, all pros and cons, they stayed.
Daughter quickly learned the language, made progress in school, took music lessons, enjoyed sports-she just felt equal in rights, she was free and demanded, and this made the parents look optimistically into the future.

Her husband often has been appealing to her: „We are creators, people should get better and improve themselves because of us being here, and, in return, we should not rely on mere luck, awaiting that someone would direct you through the life…!” He had a vision aiming at the creation of the United Centre of the Migrants where anybody could get an advice and support and the deserved participation, as well as help. Although he still works in the subway network, he tries his chances to participate in the life of his community…

Sure, not everyone among those who came here, could manage their destiny regarding the adaptation and its psychological aspects, as well as settling down and arranging their lives form the economical point of view. Some of the newcomers felt a victim of their own short-sightedness, lack of foresight, spontaneously taken uneducated decisions to change their residence; others got impatient, didn’t have enough persistence and demonstrated their inability to follow and realize their own plans. The lack of worldly wisdom and of diligence, the unwillingness to adjust oneself in order to fit into the new circumstances were the main obstacles for those; third ones just couldn’t feed themselves!
Furthermore, a specific type of settlers came into existance, financing themselves from the so called aid funds for migrants. This humiliates and insults the entire nation!..
Following the steps the main mass of migrants had taken, criminals and nationalistic missionaries arrived, looking for their chances. With these new tendencies, the migrants of the past decades, whose ideals were common principles of morals, found themselves in the situation where they were forced to exercise vigilance dealing with those arriving from their country of origin. Needless to say that the native population was not on friendly terms with the new migrants...
For the majority of the migrants, the merely economical interests prevailed, to the prejudice of their active stand as achievers. But, in regard to the deeply rooted democratic traditions, the society never lost its stability, acquired over the years of the positive democratic experience-the national institutions, as well as the improvement of the forms of the democracy and the consolidation of the civil rights are as strong as the society demands them.
Under these conditions, the Centre of the Migrants could become the organic body evolving as an active and coordinating power and helping to establish a new kind of relations between the heterogeneous masses of migrants and the state. The profound benefits arising from such kind of instrument would correspondent not only with the major interests of the migrants, but also with the national interests of the country of their residence.
Today’s migrants should be regarded as the most viable, selfsufficient, a special social class, and without doubts, possessing a versatile and high-capacity potential, which, when supported by the effective state regulation, could realize its chances and opportunities for a development, as well as to help to improve the existing national infrastructure.

One of the most significant examples of the positive influence of an ever developing process of the organized migration is sports.
Sports like nothing else, is contributing to the health and consolidation of the society in every aspect, and the fact that in the past decades sports grew into one of the modern world’s major industries, strongly supports our statement.
Creativity, self-expression and sports achievements constitute a weighty input into the every country’s image.
Athlete migrants, with a rare exception, don’t bring in destructive elements; furthermore, they become, regardless of the tough competition, competent and enjoying full rights members of the new entities.
Ideally, exactly because of the existence of the migrants, the world could change from multi-polar and hostile into the world of like-minded and creative people.

“Mom, you’re somewhere else!”- the girl brought her mother back from her journey into the past… The lady smiles and gently pushes Arina,-“get ready, darling, you’ll be late for your training.”
By a special joy, the mother was confirmed of the fact that the adaptation of her daughter within the ethnically different environment, comes easily-thanks to the high level of openness and social adaptability, qualities formed by growing up in a sportsmen’s family. All this contributed to a fast adaptation and self-assurance within the collective of the kids.
Those who aren’t mentally ready for the adaptation, who don’t strive for unifying with the natives, in addition individuals with an excessive self-esteem and prevailing ambitions and those who are plagued by the feeling of not being realized - these individuals fill up a sluggish and inert stratum of the society.
Adaptation of children as the most psychologically vulnerable members of the society, presents itself as the major problem in migrant’s lives.
Within the process of the children’s adaptation, the priority should be given to the participation of the kids in various sportive and cultural activities carried out by schools, as well as by the district and town entities…

What a comforting feeling give to the migrant's soul big nation-wide celebrations!
The Football World Cup, which took place in Germany, deeply moved all of us with the emotionally-charged explosion of feelings, with fireworks lightening up the whole Europe, with uncompromising and sometimes driven to dispare passions, with the struggle and the close unity of the masses of ambitious young and strong people of different languages and denominations. Ecstasy and dispair-at times, driven to the extreme!...
„WE won!!!“ or „w e lost!...“
But the life of a migrant has, in any circumstances, the seal of peculiarity, with the ever-present touch of uncertainty, feeling of detachment from the Motherland or significant psychological isolation..

Today, I read together with my wife the report of the Secretary General of the UNO, which was proposed for the September session of this major international organisation and which should address the problems of the migrants. And-what's all about? Allmost abstruse, allmost impartial, but, as the great Goethe said, „Gray, dear friend, is all theory, but green the golden tree of life...“ The migrants being addressed as living, but faceless goods, which, although not being totally deprived of an attention, are still legalized in their weakness and in their state of possessing no civil rights, not being allowed to form their coordinating entity and completely depending on the will of the governments, the competition on the job markets and political circumstances. Slogans, theses, diagrams, tables, declarations... For some reason, up to now, the concepts of „reservation“, „colony“, „diasphora“ are held for insulting and abusive...

Why the opportunity coudn't be granted to the migrants, under the patronage and jurisdiction of the UNO, to build their own cities, to secure the economical and technical viability of those cities- being supported by the political centralism, legal systems and traditions of the different countries of choice, which are ready to use effectively the positive might of the significant part of the almost two hundred million army of the migrants?
Why the assumed responsibility and self-consciousness of the migrants remain undemanded? What could prevent the country of choise to realize, in the name of its own wealth and under the observance of justice, the ancient principal of „divide and reign“ - without hurting migrant's pride and dignity, but favouring their integration into the new world and, by these means, to contribute to the prosperity of the countries and to the spiritual enrichment of the mankind?
And vise versa, the wrong methods of working and co-existanse with the migrants in the countries with imperfect forms of the social and political structures and loose ties to the basic principals of the democrasy, raise the umsurmountable problems... Providing for the balance of the migratory processes and the help for every individual to realize her or his own importance could become the most visual and significant evidence of viable capacity of the UNO and positively influence the entire mankind.
To be continued.
